Memories to WDS 2010

The world dog show of Milan is over, and I started thinking of the firt time I ever traveled to a World dog show.
It was held in Herning Denmark in 2010.
I never had the idea of having a change to be on such a big show, but I really wanted to go to a show like that, if it was only so I could say "I went to a worldshow ones"

So there we went. In a stationcar, we didn't have our mobile home back then, a little tent and 2 dogs.
Star (nr 1) and Scarlett.
We drove by evening and night and came to the place of Ry in the middle of the night, so we decided it was not a great plan to go set up the tent, and we just slept in the car.
Next morning we where really hurt and sore ofcourse but we went on to set our stuff up on the showsite.

Our judge for the girls was Ulla Berg Person, and Scarlett went on for excellent, and Star became placed second. That was pretty cool. And also that we came across so many nice people with great looking dogs. At the end of the day all nrs 1 and 2 of all classes where to come back in the ring, and Star got the grade of 4th best of the show. I still don't get that system, but I was happy.
The fact that we made so many nice contacts was also pretty amazing.

When judging was over we drove to Herning where all the real action would take place.
We came there on the campsite and first we did was setting up our tent. That was a big pain in the bud, because the dogs where happy and being active and that is not very handy when you are not the best person when putting up a tent. We made it, and afterwards we walked the dogs, as soon as we came back we went to sleep. I don't think I ever have been soo tired in my whole life.

Next morning everything was wet...... there was this amazing fog, so clothes where wet, the dogs, well there was nothing dry anymore, so that was a strange start of the day. We got a quick as we could to the showcentre so we could dry ourselves and the stuff, the dogs looked wonderfull with their moist coat.

I never saw such an amazing show hall, it was big and a lot of space, and there where grooming areas where you could set up your stuff. I was about then in my showing that I still was a little afraid of big names of kennels and handlers and I saw that championclass was the first class to come up.
And there I was with Star, and all the collies with the big names in this class. The judge was mr Thomas Rolin, and he awarded Star with an excellent 1!!!!!! OMG she won championclass, I was over the moon, she just beat some dogs with the big names.
And after a long wait it was time for Scarlett, the group was about 30 so it had to be split up.
Scarlett was then in youthclass, and still from time to time very jumpy, but she did great. And in the end she got excellent and was within the last 6 in the line up.

It was a very long wait again for Star to go in the ring again for CACIB, she didn't make it, but that was ok. There where so many beautifull dogs, that I was superproud of what we achieved.
We made alot of new friends on that show, and we learned alot about our breed.

So that was a part of my WDS storie, I hope I will think of more nice stories to share with you.

The collie standard by Mia Ejerstad

Another great book, and I happen to be the lucky girl who has both of her books. It is the same, but the small one is the first one she published and the larger one is the new revisited one.

Why is this book a great one??? Well this one will explain with picutres to go with it, how the ideal collie should look. All parts of the collie come along while you read this book. Headtypes, what is a perfect shape of a head, what is acceptable, and various faults, in bigger and lesser degree. But also how angulation needs to be in front and back, and what is an acceptable tail! I think that it is very nice that all ellements come in to vision with many drawings,  because while explaining a form in letters, it is far more easy to see for youselve on a picture.

Many beautifull drawing from the hand of Mia are in this book, she really knows how to capture the beauty of the collie and make the standard of our breed into vision.
I do go over this book so many times, and it gives me a clear view of …

Mijn vriend Rik

I'm so sorry for not posting for a while but sometimes there are so many other things to do, and I need to go to work to get my money so it's been a while.
But now I want to share again a very very nice book I got. I had it as a present from one of my best friends, and mentors in the collie breed.

This book is about a Rotweiller and it's called  Mijn vriend Rik, by Jan van Rheenen.
At first I tought why I wanna read a book about a Rotweiller, but I have a very cool colliebook by the same writer, and it wasn't the largest book with the most pages, so I started reading it.

You wouldn't believe how quick I finished this book, the story is so great told, this man can really write a book you get hooked on (if you like dogbooks) when I finished it, wat was within 2 days I found it like I read some Terhune story but then with another breed and another language.

The books first publishing date was in 1954, and that makes the book very sweet in reading, no fowl languages, a…

Judging at dogshow-ringtraining

Last year, in December, yes I know a while back, I judged at the showtraining event of Dogshow-ringtraining Drouwenermond.

I was asked if I wanted to do judging of their last day of the training season, to make a nice ending of their trainingsyear.
Ofcoarse I'm not a real conformation Judge, but I have been intensively showing dogs since 2004, so I know how things are going in the showring.

So in december it was their end of the season, and my first ever judging apointment.
There where multiple groups of dogs and it really went just like a real dogshow, only I went over the dogs, not judging the dogs, but taking notice of their handler if they where doing the correct thing.
Showing me the bite of their dog, gaiting them and presenting them.

For every dog was made a judging report with points, so that was really curious for me too.
I was so focused on all aspects I didn't really know who was my nr 1 handler.

So when they calculated points I was just as curious as all the partic…
